New Zealand Women’s Match Racing Championships 2007
(from the RNZYS web site)

Nicky Souter (TEAM MUSTO) and her crew of Kylie McKillop, Lilly Taylor & Rayshele Martin representing the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club won the 2007 RNZYS New Zealand Womens Match Racing Championships, held over the past three days on Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour.

The regatta now nicknamed the New Zealand ‘Light Air’s’ Match Racing Championships was sailed in extreme light airs and consequently only one Round Robin was completed. Second overall was Amanda Scrivenor representing the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia Youth Sailing Academy. Jess Smyth and team finished 3rd overall but will meet Souter again at the ISAF Women’s Match Racing World Championships in France later this year. Sam Osborne and crew representing the Lion Foundation Youth Training Programme completed the top 4. The Race Committee lead by Judy Salthouse were more than commended at prizegiving for completing the round robin in what was the most trying conditions we have seen for a long time on the Waitemata Harbour. Each team thanked the race committee and the mark laying team’s who were moving marks every leg to keep the racing going!
