2011 Women’s Musto Wellington Match Race Cup - Preview

The 2011 Musto Wellington Match Race Cup will host New Zealand’s best up and coming talent on Wellington harbour. With New Zealand having some of the best match racing talent in the world, in both the men’s and women’s arenas, it is guaranteed to contain a very high standard of match racing.

This event is unique, by incorporating both the men’s and women’s events into one. The women will be sailing in the Elliott Sixes whilst the men will compete in MRX’s.

For the men they will be looking to prove themselves as New Zealand’s best match racers and also to prepare for their campaigns in Europe throughout the following year. The winner of the event will receive the added bonus of a wild card entry to Match Race Germany in the 2011 World Match Racing Tour.

The Women will be vying for selection into the NZL Sailing Team’s Olympic Squad. There are spots up for grabs and with the Olympics only two years away, the prospective Women sailors will need to be firing at this year’s event.

Racing gets underway today once the wind comes in!
